What is the Freedom Duo?
It's a two-person, three-season tent with an easy-use design, best suited to adventures between spring and autumn. Whether backpacking, thru-hiking or camping at your favourite campsite, the Freedom Duo provides enough space for you and your partner in crime, plus a little extra for storage.
What is it made of?
Fly: The flysheet is constructed with Wild Country's very own Stormtex P4000 material, developed to provide the best performance for the conditions these tents are intended to face. Stormtex P4000 comprises polyester with a PU/DWR (durable water repellent) to enhance water resistance without adding excessive weight. Internal taping provides a fully waterproof seam that prevents rain from leaking through the stitching. The fabric has also been tested to the CPAI84 standard, making it fire resistant.
Floor: Aqua Stop P5000 at the tent's base provides exceptional durability underfoot and maintains high water resistance to protect you from wet ground. Wild Country developed the material using polyester yarn.
Poles: Superflex Alloy poles provide fantastic stability without excessive weight and bulk and are super easy to set up, minimising the pitching process without compromise.
The total weight of the tent is 2.02kg, which is incredibly light for a two-person tent. For those counting every gram of weight on longer excursions, you can strip down some features to give you an absolute basic shelter, reducing the weight to 1.77kg. Alternatively, halve the load with your buddy so you each have a small amount to carry.
What features does it have?
Entry: A half mesh entry gives you a little visibility outside, should you leave the outer door open when the conditions are favourable.
Space: The tent provides room for two people or even one if you're seeking extra luxury or maybe even some room for the dog. 94cm of headroom provides enough space to sit up (unless you're super tall... sorry), and 210cm length allows you to lie flat comfortably.
Storage: Two vestibules provide extra space for bulky backpacks and muddy boots.
Guylines, attachments and pegs: Yellow reflective guylines allow you to see the tent in the dark and when visibility is poor. Alloy V-angle pegs keep your tent on the ground and are light, solid and easy to use. Pockets in the flysheet provide the option for adding trekking poles (not included) to your setup for a little extra stability - handy for exposed camping spots when the wind is howling!
Optional extras: You can purchase a tent footprint separately to help increase the tent's longevity by reinforcing the base, protecting it further from rocks and rugged terrain where it's at a higher risk of tearing or snagging when laid on the ground.
