What is the Eiswand Advanced ML Hooded Jacket?
The Eiswand Advanced ML Hooded Jacket is part of Mammut's Eiger Extreme Collection. It's built to prioritise performance with a Pontetorto® Tecnowool® waffle material construction that is both breathable and exceptionally warm. It's a fantastic piece for multi-day expeditions, mountaineering, ice climbing and trekking in wintry conditions, yet could even be used for hiking in challenging terrain or on more exposed routes.
What is it made of?
As mentioned, the Eiswand Advanced ML is made with Pontetorto® Tecnowool® that comprises polyester, responsibly sourced wool and spandex to give it a flexible, stretchy nature. The material combines the look of a classic wool product with the properties of synthetic fibres to effectively wick away sweat and moisture, enhancing thermoregulation for intense activities.
When you put the jacket on, the material feels thick, insulative and warm, perfect for burly alpine adventures and adventures in icy conditions. It has a lovely stretch to it that allows you to move freely for technical ascents, climbing and using trekking poles.
Materials used to create the Eiswand Advanced ML are bluesign® approved, ensuring they are responsible, sustainable and ethical. bluesign® works to eliminate the use of harmful substances from manufacturing processes and guarantees responsible resourcing that has minimum impact on people and the environment.
What are its features?
This hooded jacket has a flat-seam design that removes bulk from the stitching to make it feel much more comfortable next to the skin. Flattening seams helps reduce weight and prevent chafing and rubbing when wearing a backpack over the top to keep you comfy during long days of exploring the great outdoors.
It has a roomy hood with an elastic trim and a high collar at the front for improved heat retention and extra protection from the elements.
Reinforcement panels placed over the top of the shoulders and the upper arms increase longevity against rugged terrain and offer protection from backpacks rubbing and weighing the area down. The panels feel similar to softshell fabrics but are made with a flexible, abrasion resistant ceramic print.
The two zipper pockets are backpack and climbing harness compatible, perfect for energy gels and snacks to keep you fuelled throughout your mission. They're strategically placed in areas to ensure that your rucksack or harness won't obstruct them when worn, allowing you to grab your essentials with minimum faff.
Subtle 'X' detailing on the back finishes the design, representing the Eiger Extreme Collection.
In terms of sustainability, these boots are made in compliance with Fair Wear standards. Fair Wear is a non-profit organisation that ensures safe and fair working conditions for factory workers by working directly with factories, trade unions, NGOs and governments to protect workers' rights.
