What are the Air Tech New Matic EVO's?
The Air Tech's are technical 12-point crampons that adapt to various boots, designed for ice and rock ascents and mixed climbs in challenging environments, and developed to keep the foot steady on inclines, declines and traverses, giving you confidence on trickier routes.
What are they made of?
The frame and spikes that sit underneath the boot are made from durable steel. It's highly robust yet lightweight and not too bulky, offering the perfect balance of precision and performance.
Clamps that fit the front and rear, alongside some of the plates underneath, are made of plastic which cuts the weight down and offers flexibility where you need it most, without compromising function and durability for rugged terrain.
What are their features?
These crampons have a 12-point construction to ensure grip at all angles. Eight points are located at the front and four at the rear. Grivel has strategically placed these points to keep the foot stable on inclines, declines and traverses, giving you plenty of versatility and confidence at all angles.
Grivel Proactive Antibott prevents snow and ice from building up underneath - a potentially hazardous problem that can cause you to lose grip and stability. The Antibott is the ball-shaped element on the bottom of the crampon. It unloads snow with every step by taking advantage of the movement of your foot using an elastic action.
The New Matic EVO binding system is the plastic front and rear posts. The system uses those hinged posts to retain the boot securely and can hold a variety of sizes of boots, even those with a shallow and worn front welt or when overboots are used.
Overall, the Air Tech is easy to store and not at all bulky. They offer perfect adherence and make a fantastic accessory for mountain activity and winter climbing.
